General Alfred Jodl, Chief of Staff of the German Army, signed three other surrender documents
at the same time, one each for Great Britain, Russia, and France. The three German officers delegated by German
President Karl Doenitz were: Gen. Alfred Jodl, who alone had been authorized to sign the surrender document;
Maj. Wilhelm Oxenius, an aide to Jodl; and Adm. Hans-Georg von Friedeburg, one of the German chief
negotiators on 04 May 1945 at the signing of the German instruments of surrender in Luneburg Heath on 4 May 1945,
in Reims, on 7 May, and in Berlin on 8 May 1945. Von Friedeburg committed suicide,
he succeeded Grand Admiral Karl Donitz as Commander-in-Chief of the Kriegsmarine when Donitz became Reich President
on 1 May 1945.
At 08:00 on the morning of the 3rd May 1945 a German delegation led by General Admiral von Friedeburg
crossed the British lines north of Hamburg. Friedeburg was a representative of General Keitel (head of the Army)
and Admiral Donitz (Head of State) who wished to surrender. General Kinzel was acting on behalf of Field Marshal Busch.
At the same time was a second delegation who wished to negotiate the surrender of Hamburg.
Four of the main German delegation were taken to report to Field Marshal Montgomery, 8 km east on the Timeloberg.
Montgomery was advised by radio of their departure for his HQ. Montgomery said that only unconditional surrender
of all German forces to his northern and western flanks would be acceptable.
It was agreed that Admiral von Friedeburg and Major Friedel would return to Donitz's headquarters.
On 03 May 1945 von Friedeburg was ordered by Donitz to negotiate the surrender to the Western Allied forces.
In the afternoon of the following day, Friday on 4th May 1945, the Germans recrossed the British front
line and they were escorted back to Montgomery's HQ. At 18:30 on 04 May 1945 the German delegates
signed the Instrument of Surrender which would come into force at 08.00 morning British Time on Saturday, 5th May 1945.
"Thus, on 4 May, in Luneburg, at Montgomery's control center, Admiral von Friedeburg signed the
partial surrender of German forces operating in the Northwest of Germany.
On 5 May, Donitz asked Friedeburg to go to Reims to Eisenhower's headquarters to negotiate a possible
general surrender on just the Western front;
since Eisenhower refused a separate surrender [on 05/06 MAY], Donitz then sent general Alfred Jodl, Chief of staff of
the German armies, to Reims with the authority to sign the capitulation. When he arrived at the Reims air base
around 5 p.m. on 06 MAY, the German general was taken directly to the SHAEF. After final negotiations
[on 06 MAY], the unconditional capitulation was signed by the German side in the middle of the night on 7 may, 1945
[night on 06/07 MAY], at 2.41 in the morning [07 MAY], thus putting an end to the second world war in Europe".
"On May 6, 1945, in Reims, France, German General Alfred Jodl arrived [5 pm] at the Supreme Headquarters
of the Allied Expeditionary Force to discuss the terms of a German surrender. While Jodl initially sought a partial
surrender to focus on the Eastern front, General Dwight D. Eisenhower insisted on a full and unconditional surrender
of all German forces. Eisenhower announced that if a complete surrender was not achieved,
the lines would be closed to surrendering German forces at midnight on May 8th, and hostilities would resume."

'We exchanged the genocidal, German, Nazi occupation for a Soviet and totalitarian occupation,'
R. Sikorski emphasized on 08 MAY 2025.
Someone wrote on 08 MAY 2025: "the anniversary of the end of World War II is also a good opportunity to demand
